Zika virus is capable of causing ocular complication along with neurological anomalies like microcephaly and Gullian Barre syndrome in infants born to infected pregnant mothers. There are no vaccines or antivirals available against the virus till now. Furthermore, there is a lack of knowledge on the molecular mechanism of the interaction of the Zika virus with the ocular cells. In this study, we try to understand the molecular changes in the retinal pigment epithelial cells upon infection with Zika virus which will help us to find novel targets to devise therapeutic strategies to against viral infection.
