The aim of our investigation is to determine whether an infection with the pathogenic fungus U. maydis has an influence on the bacterial and fungal endophyte communities of maize. To assess the composition of bacterial and fungal communities, we applied metabarcoding targeting the bacterial 16S rRNA gene and the fungal ITS2 region, respectively.
