Naval Office Shipping Lists, Kingston, Jamaica, 1752-1769

This dataset is a transcription of selected features of the Naval Office Shipping Lists for Kingston, Jamaica from 1752-1769. It includes information on both entrances and clearances including ship location/destination, date of travel, tonnage, number of guns onboard, crew sizes, where and when the ship was built, where it was registered, and its cargo. The original documents can be found in C.O. 142/14-21, The National Archives (Kew), London. Not all lists survive between 1752-69. Complete runs for entrance and clearance records can be found from 1752-55, 1763-1765, and 1767. Partial runs exist for 1756-57, 1762, 1766, and 1768-69. And no lists survive from 1758-61. Also included are the latitude and longitude of common locations that appear in the shipping lists.
