Attainable housing communities are eligible to renters based on Area Median Income (AMI) as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). AMI is updated annually in April by HUD. The Unmet Housing Needs Unit (UHNU) Program offers households the opportunity to rent an apartment where household income must be no more than 30% of the Area Median Income. Communities with the UHNU symbol in this guide have UHNU units. The Unmet Housing Needs Unit Midway Rental (Midway Rental) Program offers eligible households the opportunity to rent an apartment where household income must be between 50 – 80% of the Area Median Income. Communities with the Midway Rental symbol have Midway Rental units. The Affordable Dwelling Unit (ADU) rental program offers eligible households the opportunity to rent an apartment where household income must be between 30 - 50% of the Area Median Income. Communities with the ADU symbol in this guide have ADU units. The Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Program offers affordable apartment units to households earning no more than 60% of Area Median Income.
