Indicator: Riparian Forest Buffers in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed (2010-2024)

Together, these data show both annual planting progress and longer-term changes in riparian forest cover. The indicator focuses on forested habitat within 100 feet of streams, using a 1:24K scale stream network, and includes land cover classes with mature tree cover and an unmanaged understory.</p><p><strong>Note: This Indicator supported progress tracking toward the Forest Buffer Outcome in the original Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement, adopted in 2014. The Watershed Agreement and Healthy Forests and Trees Outcome were revised in 2025.</strong></p>
