This dataset contains data from an experimental study examining the effect of in-game currency perception on mental budgeting among Indonesian gamers. The study employed a between-subjects experimental design with multiple conditions that represent different ways in which in-game currency is perceived. Specifically, the dataset enables comparisons of mental budgeting levels across experimental conditions in which in-game currency is framed as a currency (A), as a virtual good (B), or presented without manipulation.
Data were collected from Indonesian participants aged 18–29 years who have experience playing games developed by HoYoverse. The dataset includes experimental condition assignments, responses to the Mental Budgeting Scale, and selected demographic variables, including age, gender, education level, income, and gaming-related characteristics. Items 12 and 13 are reverse-worded items; however, the responses are provided in their original (not reverse-coded) form. This dataset can be used to analyze differences in mental budgeting across currency perception conditions and to support future research and intervention development in digital gaming and financial behavior contexts.
