Insect diversity and abundance within grasslands versus mowed grass using distance-based sampling method (transect tape)

A 30 meter transect tape was used to collect data on insect diversity and abundance in grasslands versus mowed grass. One set of data was collected for each grassland and mowed grass (which were adjacent to each other). 5 different transects were inspected in mowed grass and 3 transects were inspected in the grasslands. Each transect tape was placed 5 meters adjacent to the previous tape placement location. The following data were recorded at each transect. (1) Transect # (2) Transect location: Whether it was placed in the mowed grass or the grasslands. (3) Insect type: Insect's were placed in broad categories such as (but not limited to) ants, beetles, flies. (4) The total number of insects were recorded as well.

本研究采用30米样带卷尺（transect tape），采集草原与刈割草坪的昆虫多样性及丰度数据。每对相邻的草原与刈割草坪各开展一组数据采样，其中刈割草坪布设5条样带，草原布设3条样带。每条样带卷尺的布设位置与前一条样带的间距为5米。每条样带均记录以下内容：(1) 样带编号；(2) 样带位置：即布设于刈割草坪还是草原；(3) 昆虫类群：将昆虫划分为大类群，涵盖但不限于蚂蚁、甲虫、蝇类；(4) 同时记录昆虫总个体数量。
