A consecutive series of 748 women with primary invasive breast cancer treated with breast conserving surgery at a single institution between 1984 and 1995. From these individuals a tumour tissue block for construction of microarrays was obtained from 370 cases. Data on systemic adjuvant therapy is available for 364 cases, of these 185 received no adjuvant treatment, 61 received CMF chemotherapy, 115 received endocrine therapy (Tamoxifen) and 3 received both chemotherapy and endocrine therapy. Date of death and cancer as cause of death was obtained from NSW Cancer Registry. Median follow-up period is 157 months (range, 4-263 months).
