This project provides the genome assembly of the Lake Malawi cichlid Astatotilapia calliptera, common name eastern happy, as a reference for the investigation of adaptive radiation in African cichlids [PMID: 26680190]. The assembly is provided by the Wellcome Sanger Institute and Cambridge U niversity team (https://www.sanger.ac.uk/science/data/vertebrate-genomes-sequencing) of the Vertebrate Genomes Project (http://vertebrategenomesproject .org) as part of the Genome10K initiative. The mitochondrial assembly is provided by the Vertebrate Genomes Project team at The Rockefeller University.
