Our group is using quadrats and transect as sampling method to exam: 1. the number of different bird species and totoal number of individuals of each bird species. 2. number of different insect species and totoal number of individuals of each insect species. The data are collected on two habitat types: grassland and woodlot. First, we will be using 10 quadrats, which is one meter squared in area, to measure insect diversity on both sites. Specifically, the quadrate will be randomly placed at 10 different positions on the field and all the species identified in each one will be counted. Secondly, we will be using 10 transects per habitat to measure bird species. The transect will be randomly placed at 10 different spots at each habitat, and for every transect, we walk 25 metres and visually count the bird species using the help of a binocle. Last but not least, we also note the abiotic factors that might influence the data, such as temperature and wind speed.
本研究团队采用样方(quadrat)与样带(transect)作为采样方法,开展以下两项调查:1. 不同鸟类物种的数量,以及各鸟类物种的个体总数;2. 不同昆虫物种的数量,以及各昆虫物种的个体总数。本次调查将在两类生境中开展:草地(grassland)与林地区块(woodlot)。首先,我们将使用10个面积为1平方米的样方,对两处生境的昆虫多样性进行调查。具体而言,我们会在样地内随机布设10个样方点位,并对每个样方内识别到的所有昆虫物种进行计数。其次,我们将在每个生境中布设10条样带,以调查鸟类物种情况。每条样带将随机布设至对应生境的10个不同点位,沿样带步行25米,借助双筒望远镜目视计数沿途的鸟类物种。最后,我们还将记录可能影响调查结果的非生物因子,例如气温与风速。
