The evolution of the spontaneous microbiota of freshly collected brewers' spent grains (i.e. spontaneous solid state fermentation), and that of brewers' spent grains inoculated with a commercial "plant-growth promoting" microorganism preparation (guided solid state fermentation), was followed at days 0, 7, 14, 28, 56, 70 and 90 by 16S-rRNA(V3-V4) and ITS2 high throughput sequencing (Illumina Miseq).
