Prokaryotic soil microbiomes from ten vineyard sites in the Plovdiv district, Southern Bulgaria, were characterised using 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing to assess taxonomic diversity and predicted functional potential under contrasting pedoclimatic conditions. The communities showed a conserved core dominated by Actinomycota, Pseudomonadota, and Acidobacteriota, together with strong site-specific variation in alpha and beta diversity and in functions related to chemoheterotrophy, nitrification, nitrate reduction, cellulolysis, and aromatic compound degradation. These data highlight the joint influence of geography, environmental conditions, and vineyard management on soil microbial structure and function.
