Multi-Scale X-ray Fluorescence Geochemical Data for Igneous Rocks and Their Alteration Products

This dataset contains quantitative micro-X-ray Fluorescence (µXRF) geochemical data for igneous rocks and their alteration products acquired at four spatial resolutions (5, 25, 50 and 100 µm beam diameters). Analyses were performed on four geological thin sections by laboratory µXRF using an IXRF ATLAS X (IXRF Systems) housed at the Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis, The University of Queensland. The dataset includes both raw geochemical data (unnormalized elemental concentrations, reported in ppm, exported directly from GeoPIXE v8.7) and processed geochemical data (normalized oxide concentrations reported in wt%). These data underpin the results presented in Dimarco Z. et al., "Scale Dependent X-ray Fluorescence Analysis of Igneous Rocks and Their Alteration Products" a manuscript submitted to Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets. The dataset enables quantitative assessment of how analytical resolution influences geochemical variance, mineral identification, and downstream petrological and geological interpretations.
