High-resolution time-series data of carotenoid pools, fluorescence and absorbance dynamics in tree leaves during sudden high-light exposure
This dataset contains raw and processed data used in the study investigating second-scale pigment and fluorescence dynamics during sudden high-light transitions in three woody plant species (Celtis australis, Morus alba, and Quercus ilex), grown under contrasting light conditions (sun vs. shade). The goal of the study was to understand how carotenoid pool dynamics, particularly in the α- and β-branches, contribute to rapid non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) and photoprotection mechanisms.Leaves from sun- and shade-grown branches of the three species were dark-adapted and then subjected to sudden high-light exposure (1000 μmol m⁻² s⁻¹) in a controlled laboratory setting.
