The dataset records free and fair elections in multiple African countries (including Benin, Botswana, Cape Verde, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, etc.) from 1789 to 2021. Published by the V-Dem Institute, it contains 767 tabular records, each with 5 columns (2 numeric, 3 categorical). The main variable is a binary indicator of whether the election was free and fair (1 for yes, 0 for no).
