Lion and Tiger

Henri Alfred Marie Jacquemart, better known by his chosen name Alfred Jacquemart (as he signed his works), was a French Sculptor and animalier (an artist specialized in the realistic portrayal of animals). He created many large-scale pieces on public display, such as Rhinoceros and large bronze lions in Paris, Huntsman and dogs in Sydney. This is a high quality and rare 19th C. cast tiger from a "Lion and Tiger" pairing, cast in 1866 at the Barbezat Foundry of Val d'Osne, near Dijon, where most of his pieces were cast by the silversmith Christofle.亨利·阿尔弗雷德·马里·雅克马尔（Henri Alfred Marie Jacquemart），其常用艺名为阿尔弗雷德·雅克马尔（Alfred Jacquemart，为其签署作品时所用署名），是法国雕塑家兼动物雕塑师(animalier)——一类专攻动物写实刻画的艺术家。他创作了诸多公开展出的大型雕塑作品，例如坐落于巴黎的《犀牛》与大型青铜狮，以及位于悉尼的《猎人与猎犬》。本次收录的是一件19世纪高品质珍稀铸虎雕塑，出自“狮虎配对”系列，于1866年由第戎附近的瓦尔德奥讷巴兹卡铸造厂（Barbezat Foundry of Val d'Osne）铸造；他的绝大多数作品均由银匠克里斯托夫（Christofle）负责铸造。
