Data from Ribeiro et al. 2019: Different trophic groups of arboreal ants show differential responses to resource supplementation in a Neotropical savanna
This dataset contains information about a manipulative field study where arboreal ant species were sampled directly on different supplements and also, foraging on plants by pitfall traps.
Methods:
We haphazardly assigned 32 plots (20 x 20 m) in Brazil’s Serra do Cipó National Park to receive one of four supplement treatments (Protein, CHO; Protein+CHO and water as a control) on all trees for a 7-day period in each of the wet and dry seasons. We sampled ants on supplements on the second and seventh day of the experiment and also the foraging ants on trees a week before and again during the first two days of supplementation
