资源简介:
Soil bacteria, which produce a wide variety of secondary metabolites, are an attractive resource for drug discovery. Direct cultivation of soil bacterial consortia with cell- and zebrafish-based assays were conducted to identify bio-functional bacteria. In this study, bacterial consortia from Japanese soils for anticancer activity against HT-29 human colon cancer cells had been screened. Some cultures of soil bacterial consortia repressed cancer cell proliferation in HT-29-transplanted zebrafish, without any significant toxicity. Strains showing strong anticancer activity were obtained from the culture of soil bacterial consortia. Genome sequencing of the isolated bacterium was therefore undertaken to reveal potential insights of the organism.
