On the basis of observations made in various animal models and small cohorts of hypertensive patients, we designed a prospective collection of stool samples from 55 male adult individuals with or without hypertension in order to characterize gut microbiota (GM) and quantify GM-derived short chain fatty acids upon blood pressure levels. Blood pressure was methodically assessed by 24-hour BP measurements.
