Brokamp et al. (2019) Community Deprivation Index

The Community Deprivation Index (CDI) dataset contains a deprivation index for each census tract in the United States based on a principal components analysis of six different 2015 American Community Survey measures: population below poverty level, median income, high school education, health insurance status, assistance income, and vacant housing. The first component, poverty level, explains over 60% of the total variance compared to the other five measures. It is referred to as the “Deprivation Index”. Rescaling and normalization were used to scale the index to a range from 0 to 1, with 1 representing the most deprivation.

社区剥夺指数（Community Deprivation Index, CDI）数据集收录了美国各普查区的剥夺指数，该指数通过对六项2015年美国社区调查（American Community Survey, ACS）指标开展主成分分析构建而成，涵盖的具体指标包括贫困线以下人口占比、家庭收入中位数、高中教育水平、医疗保险参保状态、救助收入以及空置住房情况。其中第一主成分维度为贫困水平，可解释其余五项指标总方差的60%以上，该指数亦被称为“剥夺指数”。研究人员通过重缩放与归一化处理，将该指数的取值范围限定为0至1，其中取值为1代表该区域的剥夺程度最高。
