Return rates impact on online shopping in Western European countries 2023

In 2023, a majority of consumers in Western Europe expressed that return fees would influence their decision to purchase from an online retailer. Two out of ten respondents across surveyed countries identified the return fee as a deterrent to making a purchase at an online retailer. In contrast, only 14 percent indicated that it would not affect their purchasing decisions.
