Length and body condition data for capelin and Pacific sand lance at Middleton and St. Lazaria islands in the Gulf of Alaska, 1993-2016

In this study, we tested the hypothesis that the size and condition of forage fish in the Gulf of Alaska varies in relation to ocean climate. These data files contain the size data and condition calculation for the focal forage fish species. Metadata for these measurements include unique and sample identifiers, site (location), year, sample date within year, and species. The data files are comma separated value formatted (.csv). These data were extracted from the Alaska Puffin Diet Database (APDD), which was a product of previous NPRB project 1213. Data extraction took place in fall 2017. The analyzed data were collected during field research from 1993–2016 at Middleton and St. Lazaria islands in the Gulf of Alaska by the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, the U.S. Geological Survey, and the Institute for Seabird Research and Conservation.

本研究旨在验证一项假说：阿拉斯加湾饵料鱼（forage fish）的体长与体况随海洋气候条件变化而改变。本数据集包含目标饵料鱼种的体长数据与体况计算结果。本次测量的元数据包含唯一标识符与样本标识符、采样位点（地理位置）、年份、年内采样日期以及物种信息。数据集文件采用逗号分隔值格式（.csv）存储。本数据集提取自阿拉斯加海鹦饮食数据库（APDD），其为过往NPRB 1213号项目的研究成果。数据提取工作于2017年秋季完成。本次分析所用数据，于1993年至2016年间由阿拉斯加海洋国家野生动物保护区、美国地质调查局以及海鸟研究与保护研究所，在阿拉斯加湾的米德尔顿岛与圣拉萨里亚岛的野外调研中采集获取。
