This project analyzed soil samples from a replicated field trial comparing rock powders that were added to the soil in order to increase its pH. The rock powder treatments included the siliceous minerals olivine, norite, and larvikite and the calcareous lime powders dolomite and calcite in addition to an untreated control soil. The soils were sampled two years after application of the rock powders and DNA was extracted and used as template for amplicon sequencing of the SSU rRNA gene to characterize the bacterial community in the soils.
