Tandem bioreactor microbial communities reconstruction

Two lab-scale, continuous bioreactors were inoculated with brewery waste and used to cultivate high-oxygen affinity ammonia oxidizers and high-nitrogen affinity nitrite oxidizers in an effort to determine if making the nitrification process in discrete steps would be more efficient. Several years of metagenomic seqeuncing was collected and analyzed to understand the nitrifying and associated microbial communities.
