This series consists of the general correspondence files created by the Occupational Health and Safety Commission (VA 1647) from 1986 until its abolition in 1992.This series documents the functional responsibilities of the Commission, which were:to advise the Minister about occupational health and safety standards for Victorian workplacesto promote research and education and training activities (including the approval of courses) in occupational health and safetyto provide information on occupational health and safetyto review the administration and operation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1985.The Commission was appointed as the Board of Management of the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (VA 3143) when the Authority was established in 1991. As the Board of Management, the Commission was responsible for setting general policy directions for the Authority.Files in this series will typically include: correspondence received by the Commission, copies of correspondence sent by the Commission, reports, memoranda, copies of publications, and various working papers.
