VPRS 12584 Seal Register

The series was created to register those documents to which the common seal of the Railway Commissioners was affixed, in accordance with section 5 of the Victorian Railways Commissioners Act 1883 (No. 767). The Seal Register was a summary record that documented the use and authorisation of affixing the seal. Examples of sealed documents were contracts, agreements, licences, leases, etc.Typically, the register would be divided into the following column headings:- Date of Document,- Description of Document,- Date of Affixing Seal and initial of Commissioner.
