Nutrient disturbance on coastal planktonic communities of the eastern Mediterannean

This study investigated the effect of nutrient disturbance that may eventually lead to eutrophication, on coastal planktonic communities. Disturbed coastal areas were studied in comparison to undisturbed areas and the structure and composition of prokaryotic and eukaryotic plankton was accessed. The study sites were chosen according to their chlorophyll-a concentration used as an indication for eutrophication.
