Funerary stele of Caius Valerius Diodorus

This is the funerary stele of Caius Valerius Diodorus. Within the clipeo two people are represented: on the left and seated a bearded man, wrapped in a cloak, in front of him and a young man dressed in tunic over which he bears the paenula or perhaps the sagum; with his left hand he holds a long roll. It is perhaps an episode of the life of the duo connected with his scholastic activity (the seated man and probably the father of the deceased).
