This dataset provides global distribution data of regions categorized by population density tiers for the years 1990, 1995 and 2000. The population density tiers are as follows: 1–5 people per square kilometer, 5.1–25 people per square kilometer, 25.1–50 people per square kilometer, 50.1–100 people per square kilometer, 100.1–250 people per square kilometer, and regions with a population density exceeding 250 people per square kilometer. The original data is sourced from http://sedac.ciesin.columbia.edu/data/set/gpw-v3-population-density. The final dataset was obtained after a series of preprocessing operations conducted with ArcGIS 10.5 software, including format conversion, projection transformation, null and outlier handling, resampling, standardization, and quality inspection.
