Table S5. Outcome of statistical tests for methane oxidation parameters, gene abundances, and physicochemical parametersof agricultural soils (0 -15 cm depth) and their upper-top and sub-top layers (0-7.5 cm depth and 7.5-15 cm depth, respectively). For continuous variables, Shapiro-Wilk and Levene's tests were performed to test for normality and homogeneity of variance, respectively, followed by either a one-way ANOVA or Scheirer-Ray-Hare test, and for binary variables, a χ²-test was performed, to test the effects of the effect of the organic treatment (organic-amended vs. unamended). Both the effects of the study sites ("Location") and the agricultural practice (no-tillage vs. tillage), and their respective interactions with the organic treatment, were also tested. Also, a pairwise comparison between soil layers was performed, using Tukey's HSD, Dunn's, or least-square means post-hoc test. Only p-values ≤0.05 are given.
