Super typhoon Hato is the strongest typhoon affected Macao since 1953. During the typhoon, Macao recorded a maximum hourly average wind speed of more than 12 degrees with the maximum gust speed of 217.4 km/h and a rainfall of more than 30 mm. Moreover, the typhoon happened to coincide with a high astronomical tide, causing severe damage to plants throughout the area. The forest ecosystem suffered sudden and severe damage. To investigate the characteristics and regularity of the damage to forests caused by this extremely strong typhoon, three representative vegetation types in Macao were selected in this study. This dataset is the statistics of dynamic changes of plant restoration and community characteristics, as well as the response of plant phenology to the post-disaster recovery from three representative communities selected from the permanent sample plots for phenological monitoring since 2011 in Macao. This research might also serve as a reference for future research on typhoon hazard on forest and breeding of local wind-resistant plants.
