On March 18, 2024, the synthetic microbial community was resuspended in 7% salinity, low-carbon source 2216E medium to an OD600 of approximately 0.8, followed by the addition of 1.6 mmol/L NO3--N. The culture was incubated in a biochemical incubator at 25°C for 1 hour. After incubation, the cells were immediately centrifuged at 4,500 r/min for 10 minutes to collect the cell pellets, which were rapidly frozen in liquid nitrogen. The samples were preserved on dry ice and sent to Novogene Bioinformatics Institute (Novogene Bioinformatics, Beijing, China) for metatranscriptomic sequencing using the Novaseq 6000 sequencing system (library insert size of 350 bp, paired-end sequencing length of 150 bp). Each sample generated 10 Gb of data.
