These sheets constitute a series of records created to facilitate gaol staff keeping track of a prisoner's criminal history. They are arranged numerically - in association with the Police criminal index system. The sheets contain the following information: prisoner's name and reference number; physical description including photographs (full length, face and profile), height, weight, marks and scars and fingerprint classification; place and date of birth; details of arrival in New South Wales (where applicable); religion; degree of education; occupation; and a list of the prisoner's previous convictions.
