TAXONOMIC CHANGES AND NOMENCLATURAL UPDATES IN THE CLADOCERA (CRUSTACEA: BRANCHIOPODA) FAUNA OF WATER BODIES OF UZBEKISTAN

Abstract. This article analyzes the current taxonomy and nomenclatural status of species of the order Cladocera (Crustacea: Branchiopoda) recorded in the water bodies of Uzbekistan. Based on the results of the study, the taxonomic position of 8 species of the family Chydoridae was revised and their current valid names established. It is shown that a number of species, previously included in the broadly interpreted genus Alona Baird, 1843, have been transferred to the genera Coronatella, Flavalona, Prendalona, Karualona, Leberis and Ovalona. The practical significance of the nomenclatural changes for faunistic checklists is discussed. The data obtained make it possible to correctly assess regional biodiversity, compare historical data with current catalogues, and eliminate systematic errors.
