3D LiDAR and Photogrammetry Scans of Housing Conditions in Kowloon City, Hong Kong

This dataset includes six point cloud files from combined photogrammetric and LiDAR scans of housing conditions in Kowloon City, Hong Kong. Each housing condition scan file is designated a case number (e.g., KC201839) in the research project record and in filenames for point cloud files published here. Researchers collected each scan using a single, approximately 10-minute walk-through of each housing condition with the Leica-brand BLK2GO model 3D environment scanner. Each scan describes the interior of a housing condition in high detail and color. Scans have been decimated to a voxel size of 5 mm to reduce file size. The data provide clear enough rendering of the physical conditions of each housing instance to allow interpretation of the scan into description of the house's construction, contents, and spatial use. Calendar dates for when each scan was conducted are given in each case file name in Day.month.year format (e.g., 6.4.24 means the scan was conducted on April 6, 2024).

The data is available immediately but separated from other datasets to protect the personal information of residents of each housing condition. Scan files are provided for purposes of digital conservation and for interpretation of each housing conditions' physical conditions and interior contents through further research. More detailed information on the dataset, including related interview datasets are available upon reviewed request.

The housing conditions shown in this datset are being or were demolished as part of the site area in the Hong Kong Urban Renewal Authority (URA) Nga Tsin Wai Road / Carpenter Road Development Scheme (KC-017). They, therefore, cannot be physically reproduced as the physical architecture and interiors shown no longer exist. Each housing condition consists of one residence occupied by one household, usually within a Chinese shop-house (Tong Lau) or repurposed factory-type building with a concrete beam grid and floor slab structure. Additional information on the exact location of each housing condition is available in ethnographic interview and field note datasets, published separately.

本数据集可直接获取，但为保护每套住宅内居民的个人信息，已与其他数据集分离存储。提供该扫描文件的目的在于实现住宅现状的数字化保存，以及支持后续研究对各住宅的物理现状与内部陈设进行解读分析。如需获取本数据集的更多详细信息（包括相关访谈数据集），需经过审核后提出申请方可获取。

本数据集所呈现的住宅现状，均属于香港市区重建局（Urban Renewal Authority, URA）衙前围道/嘉林边道发展计划（KC-017）的拆迁地块范围，目前正处于或已完成拆除。因此，这些住宅的实体建筑与内部空间已不复存在，无法通过物理方式复刻。每套住宅均为单户家庭居住的独立居所，通常位于中式骑楼式唐楼（Tong Lau）或经改造的厂房型建筑内，建筑结构为混凝土梁格与楼板体系。各住宅的精确位置信息可在另行发布的民族志访谈与实地记录数据集中获取。
