Somatic embryogensis of Vitis vinifera exhibits a transcriptomic hourglass pattern

The objective of the study was to uncover the developmental dynamics in the artificially induced somatic embryogenesis of Vitis vinifera on the transcriptome level. Overall design: Comparative gene expression profiling of RNA-seq data and evolutionary analysis for 12 developmental stages of Vitis vinifera obtained by artificialy induced direct somatic embryogenesis. Samples were collected for early induction stage (EI), preglobular stage (PG), globular stage 1 (G1), globular stage 2 (G2), heart stage (H), torpedo stage 1 (T1), torpedo stage 2 (T2), cotiledonary stage 1 (C1), cotiledonary stage 2 (C2), seedling stage (S), seedling with epicotyl stage (EP), juvenile plant stage (JP).
