资源简介:
Meta data
Variable and DescriptionDBH: Diameter around breast height (115 cm above ground)Canopy: Amount of sky that researcher could see amongst the leaves, through a rectangle made by fingers ( approx 10cm x 5cm )Sapling Distance: Distance measure from adult to nearest sapling with transect
* all data measured in cm* Adult trees are defined as trees with a length twice as high than that of the researcher ( 160cm)* Percentage value for canopy is the estimated amount of sky that could be seen in the rectangle, made by researchers fingers, amongst leaves
Meta - Analysis
Data for this lab was recorded in the woodlot area on York University Keele campus on September 21st at 3-5 pm. Erin O'Connor with lab partner Samina Munawar identified different random adult and saplings of the Rhus typhina species(commonly known as Staghorn Sumac) . We started by measuring the DBH of the adult tree with a tape measure and estimating the canopy. We then found the nearest sapling and measured the distance between the adult and sapling with a transect. The DBH of the sapling was also measured with tape measure. We replicated the experiment for a total of 10 adult trees.
