The Global Carbon Dioxide Monitoring Scientific Experiment Satellite, abbreviated as Carbon Satellite, is the first scientific experimental satellite for global atmospheric carbon dioxide observation independently developed by China. This satellite carries two integrated scientific payloads: the Hyperspectral Carbon Dioxide Sounder and the auxiliary Multi-spectral Cloud and Aerosol Sounder (CAPI). At 3:22 on December 22, 2016, China successfully launched this satellite via a Long March-2D carrier rocket at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.
