Aster prenanthoides (Late Purple Aster) was measured for its height, number of leaves, number of flowers and a quick assessment of how crowded it was around the plant was made. The experiment was conducted on September 23, 2014 at approximately 4:15 p.m. from the grassland east of Stong pond (43.770960, -79.506432) at York University. For this experiment, about 27 meters of transect tape was laid out starting from one A. prenanthoides, and the first 25 plants of this species along the transect tape was recorded for the measurements previously listed along with the distance it lay on the transect tape from the first plant. This particular species was chosen because it was easy to spot and differentiate amongst the other plants in the grassland. The experimenters on the team were Reema Patel, Melanie De Sousa, Gurnit Singh and Silvio Pacciti. To ensure measurements were constant, the same person measured the same variables for each plant.
