LBA-ECO CD-01 METEOROLOGICAL DATA, TAPAJOS AND AMAZON RIVERS, SANTAREM, BRAZIL: 2001

This data set contains meteorological data collected around the confluence of the Tapajos River with the Amazon River in the Amazon Basin near Santarem, Brazil, in July and August 2001. Boundary layer and upper air measurements were collected with an acoustic sounder-sodar instrument, pilot balloons with optical theodolites, and radiosondes. Radiosondes also measured pressure, temperature, and relative humidity in addition to wind speed and direction. Measurements were made from five local stations at varying frequencies. There are 41 comma-delimited data files with this data set.

Supporting information provided with the data set as companion files include:

Weather forecasts: Weather forecasts were used to determine the presence of favorable conditions for the balloon flights during the CIRSAN experiment, as well as to help decide the radiosonde launch frequency. The daily observed and forecast weather descriptions for the study period (Weather_forecasts_Santarem.txt) are included.

Satellite images: All the satellite images during the CIRSAN period are provided. This is a compilation of images from various instruments and satellite platforms. (See readme_sat.txt). There are 42 images in .gif format.

CPTEC Analysis files: The CIRSAN measurement data were used in the CPTEC Global Analysis modeling activity. Model output results for the Pacific and South American region are provided in GRIB format. (See readme_GPSA.txt)

本数据集收录了2001年7月至8月，于巴西圣塔伦附近亚马逊盆地塔帕若斯河（Tapajos River）与亚马逊河汇流区域采集的气象观测数据。本次观测采用声学探空-声雷达（acoustic sounder-sodar）、搭载光学经纬仪的测风气球以及无线电探空仪（radiosondes），完成边界层与高空大气参数的观测。无线电探空仪除可测量风速与风向外，还可同步获取气压、气温及相对湿度数据。观测在5个本地站点开展，各站点观测频率有所差异。本数据集共包含41个以逗号分隔的文本数据文件。

本数据集附带的配套辅助文件如下：
1. 天气预报文件：在CIRSAN实验期间，天气预报数据可用于判定气球放飞的适宜气象条件，同时辅助确定无线电探空仪的发射频率。本数据集附带了研究时段内的每日观测与预报气象描述文件（Weather_forecasts_Santarem.txt）。
2. 卫星图像文件：本数据集提供了CIRSAN实验期间的全部卫星影像。该影像集整合了多类仪器及不同卫星平台获取的观测数据（详见readme_sat.txt），共包含42个.gif格式图像文件。
3. CPTEC分析文件：CIRSAN观测数据曾应用于CPTEC全球分析建模项目。本次提供的太平洋及南美区域的模式输出结果采用GRIB格式存储（详见readme_GPSA.txt）。
