Animals are super organisms not only having their own bodies and organs but having a large group of gut microbiota. There are many complicated mechanisms happening between hosts and their GI microbes which include symbiosis, co-metabolism and co-evolution. With the rapid development of next-generation sequencing (NGS), animal microbiota becomes a new popular research focus. However, many studies are related to environmental and physiological aspects, such as diets, metabolism, sexuality, ages or diseases.
