The goal of this work was to obtain transcriptomic data of genes involved in the hypothalamic– pituitary–gonadal axis integration and maintenance of gonad identity in an all male lineage of an allopolyploid hybridogenetic complex, the non-model fish Squalius alburnoides complex. Adult fish outside breeding season (at a non-mature stage) were used to avoid high expression levels variability due to a non-synchronous multi-spawner strategy.
