This data show that both processive plus-end-directed KlpA and nonprocessive minus-end-directed Ncd become processive minus-end-directed motors upon the insertion of a polypeptide linker within the central stalk region. The minus-end-directed motility of both linker mutants (GFP-KlpA-3xGS and GFP-Ncd-3xGS) contains directional and diffusive modes.
