Prevalence and correlates of overweight and obesity among adolescents in northeastern China: a cross-sectional study

Abstract Objectives: To estimate the prevalence of overweight/obesity among adolescents and to evaluate the associated factors in this group in Changchun City, northeastern China.

Methods: A cross-sectional study of 1955 adolescents aged 11–18 years was conducted in Changchun City, using stratified cluster sampling. Parents and caregivers of children completed the questionnaires as requested without objection; the questionnaire included demographic characteristics and anthropometric parameters. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to analyze the relationship between overweight /obesity and related factors.

Results: In total, the prevalence of overweight was 12.7% (male 17.4%; female 10.1%), and the prevalence of obesity was 4.9% (male 8.8%; female 3.1%) in Changchun, Jilin Province. 研究目的：估算中国东北长春市青少年超重（overweight）与肥胖（obesity）的患病率，并分析该人群中与超重/肥胖相关的影响因素。
研究方法：本研究采用分层整群抽样（stratified cluster sampling）方法，在长春市纳入1955名11~18岁青少年开展横断面研究（cross-sectional study）。由儿童的父母及看护者按要求自愿完成问卷填写，问卷内容涵盖人口统计学特征（demographic characteristics）与人体测量学参数（anthropometric parameters）。采用单因素与多因素logistic回归（univariate and multivariate logistic regression）分析超重/肥胖与相关影响因素之间的关联。
