Digital Archive from an Archaeological Evaluation along the A12, Ingatestone, Essex, April 2019

This collection consists of images, reports, a spreadsheet, vector graphic and site record data from an archaeological evaluation carried out by Archaeology South-East. Work occurred on land adjacent to the A12, Ingatestone, Essex, in April 2019. The only prehistoric find was a very small sherd of residual pottery. The lack of prehistoric evidence suggests that the immediate landscape was little utilised in the prehistoric period. Roman finds were limited to five abraded sherds of pottery found residual in later contexts. No remains of Anglo-Saxon date were identified. Medieval pottery was recovered from a large pit in the west of the site. The pit was probably infilled in the 12th century and perhaps associated with a nearby farmstead. No other medieval remains were identified.
