It appears that a NLHS exposure (once or repetitive) of the animals or ITT, is able to instigate thermotolerance and disease resistance within one generation. Yet also genetic selection, based on survivors of a heat stress (more particular survivors after exposure to a high temperature subsequent to a NLHS, or SITT) appears to be able to instigate thermotolerance or disease resistance. Here, we investigated the differential gene expression and regulation of the network of genes in Artemia as the results of ITT or SITT using RNA-Seq technology. A comparative transcriptomic analysis was conducted to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying thermal response and adaptation in A. franciscana.
