Diversity and Abundance of Insects at York University

The study was conduct by Shelly, Carmen, Dorsah and Navdip. The study was conducted at York University at the pond near the Osgoode building as the grass land and woodlot, on Monday September 29 2014. The study was conducted in the after afternoon between 2:30 pm and 4 pm. The weather was 24 °C and it was sunny. The purpose of the experiment was to measure insect abundance on York University’s grassland and woodlot. To retrieve the data, a quadrant was placed on the ground in 10 random sections of the grassland and in the woodlot. The number of insects was then observed by gently moving the grass or weeds to see any hidden insects, within the quadrat.本研究由Shelly、Carmen、Dorsah及Navdip开展，于2014年9月29日周一在约克大学（York University）奥斯古德大楼（Osgoode building）附近池塘周边的草地与小片林地进行，时段为当日下午2:30至4:00。当日气温为24摄氏度，天气晴朗。本实验的目的为测定约克大学该区域草地与小片林地的昆虫丰度。数据采集方式如下：在草地及林地的10个随机区域内布设样方（quadrat），随后在样方范围内轻移草株或杂草以观察隐藏的昆虫，统计其数量。
