Global mainstream television coverage of IPCC 2021 report

Recent scholarship suggests that groups who oppose taking action on climate change have shifted their emphasis from attacking the credibility of the science itself to questioning the policies needed to address it, often called ‘response skepticism’. As television is the platform most used by audiences around the world to receive climate information, we examined 30 news programmes on 20 channels in 5 countries and their coverage of the IPCC’s 2021 report on the Physical Science.近期相关学术研究表明，反对采取气候变化应对行动的团体，已将其抨击重点从质疑气候科学本身的可信度，转向质疑应对气候变化所需的相关政策，这类立场通常被称为‘应对怀疑论（response skepticism）’。鉴于电视是全球受众获取气候信息的最主要渠道，本研究对5个国家20个电视频道的30档新闻节目展开分析，考察其对政府间气候变化专门委员会（IPCC）2021年发布的物理科学报告的报道情况。
