Detection and molecular characterization of Wheat stripe mosaic virus on wheat in South Africa

An RNAtag-seq approach was used to characterise the causal agent of a suspected viral disease of Wheat in the Kwa-Zulu Natal province of South Africa. The disease could not be diagnosed with antibody or PCR-based assays. RNA-seq data showed that the disease symptoms were associated with the presence of Wheat stripe mosaic virus.
