High magnification serial block face scanning electron microscopy image series of a cell-cell contact region between three cells in the interior of the multilayered region of an FGF2 (fibrolast growth factor 2) induced mammary organoid in 3D Matrigel culture. Interdigitating membrane protrusions are extensive, connect through multiple sections, and morph continuously from linear to branched and from thin to wide. Individual images are at 50 nm intervals. The field of view is 7 mm wide. This image is part of an image series CIL:39301-39095.
